Welcome to Printable Bird Checklists
NEWS - Sept 2008
The update to the database and the website is complete.
My sincere thanks and appreciation go to Steve Olesen, without whose help and advice, given for free, and the many hours spent correcting my many errors, I would still be many months away from completion.
We hope you approve of the updated information, and if anyone has further suggestions, ideas or spots any errors please let us know.
NEWS - Jan 2008
Due to increasing difficulties in maintaining this database in it's current state - ie, not following any one particular taxonomic source - I have made the decision to adapt the database to use the following criteria.....
Clements 6 (2007) for taxonomic sequence and scientific names.
Gill, F. and M.Wright. 2006. Birds of the World: Recommended English Names.
Updates to the database are currently underway, with help from Steve Olesen in Michigan, Usa. Hopefully, the updates to the main database and the World checklists will be completed and available in a few months time. Updates to the existing country checklists will then start as soon as possible after the database is complete. If there are any questions or suggestions please send me an e-mail.
The work on this site is carried out by myself purely as a hobby and a help to other birders. As I work alone the updating or addition of checklists may take some time.
All species lists include residents, migrants, accidentals and introductions, basically all birds recorded in that country. Introductions & escapes will be identified as such. Species which are classified as extinct, but, may still occur will also be identified. I also intend to add as many sub-species as possible.
Any Information on sub-species and new records would be much appreciated.
If you have any suggestions or ideas for improving the site, or notice anything that needs correcting please let me know.
Thanks
Mal Jenkins
